Title: La géographie des territoires gérontologiques
Abstract: Le vieillissement de la population de la France est un fait incontestable, puisque la proportion des personnes âgées dans la population totale y augmente au fil des années. Néanmoins, il importe de préciser les quatre facteurs de ce vieillissement pour comprendre combien son intensité peut être différente selon les différents territoires, c'est-à-dire selon les différents espaces, délimités par exemple selon des périmètres administratifs, qui composent ensemble l'espace national. Une telle analyse conduit à introduire la notion de « gérontocroissance », c'est-à-dire d'augmentation du nombre des personnes âgées, à différencier du vieillissement. Or, tant l'évolution actuelle que les projections géodémographiques montrent que les dynamiques du vieillissement et de la gérontocroissance présentent une double caractéristique géographique : d'une part, considérant par exemple un territoire départemental, leur rythme d'évolution n'est absolument pas semblable et peut même parfois diverger, d'autre part, selon les territoires, les projections indiquent des évolutions extrêmement dissemblables tant pour le vieillissement que pour la gérontocroissance. L'analyse géodémographique enseigne en conséquence l'importance d'adapter les politiques gérontologiques à des changements géodémographiques à la fois inédits et extrêmement différents selon les territoires.
