Abstract: Original Program began during FY 1998 - Responding to a White House Commission, the federal government and industry committed to a goal to reduce accident and fatality rates by a factor of five in ten years NASA created a program, complementing FAA and industry activities, to develop and demonstrate technologies that would contribute to the national goal Intensive NASA-Gov't-Industry team effort to define investment strategy based on where/how accidents were happening, who/what was being done, and focus on what research was needed Member of Commercial Aviation Safety Team (2008 Collier Trophy) Key technology outcomes: Foundations of advanced data mining and analysis (ASIAS) Weather-in-the-Cockpit Synthetic Vision Systems.
