Title: US Supreme Court to review “partial birth abortion” law
Abstract: The US Supreme Court has agreed to hear the government's appeal of lower court rulings that prevented enforcement of a federal law banning “partial birth abortion,” the procedure in which a fetus is partially delivered vaginally and then destroyed. The court will hear arguments on the appeal in October, just before mid-term elections, in which all Representatives and some Senators are up for election or re-election. A decision is expected at a later date.
The case might lead to the end of most abortions in the United States. Abortion became legal in the US with the Supreme Court's Roe v Wade decision in 1973.
