The experiment was performed for argon pressures of 1.25×10−3, 3.8×10−3, and 8.0×10−3 Torr and for helium pressures of 2.4×10−2, 3.3×10−2, and 4.6×10−2 Torr. It is shown that in the hot-cathode-type steady-state discharge a plasma diffusion velocity obtained by using an ion acoustic wave technique represents only a sort of average value in the region of measurement and that actually it increases with radial distance.Read More
