Title: Extraction of uranium (IV) nitrate by tri-n-butyl phosphate and by dibutyl carbitol
Abstract: Uranium (IV) nitrate is readily extractable from aqueous nitric acid solutions by both tri-n-butyl phosphate (TBP) in an inert diluent and dibutyl carbitol, though less so than neptunium (IV) and plutonium (IV) nitrates. In the former solvent it appears to form a di-solvate, U(NO3)4·2TBP. The possible role of the hexanitrato form, H2U(NO3)6, is discussed.
