Title: Paramagnetic and antiferromagnetic susceptibilities of the Kimball model of antiferromagnetic chromium
Abstract: Historically the nesting vector obtained from a paramagnetic Fermi surface or from the maximum of the paramagnetic susceptibility, χ(q), has been used to determine the wave vector of the spin density in antiferromagnetic chromium and various transition metal alloys. The only self consistent calculation of the wave vector is the Kimball model for antiferromagnetic chromium (1). In the present paper χ(q) is computed in both the paramagnetic and antiferromagnetic versions of the model to examine the effect of the spin density wave on the susceptibility. The analytic behavior of χ(q) which is produced by antiferromagnetic gaps of the Fermi surface is investigated to explain changes in the peak structure of χ(q).
