Title: Diffuse solar radiation—Daily and monthly values as affected by snow cover
Abstract: It is generally recognized that surface albedo (terrain reflectance) has a significant effect on the diffuse fraction of global radiation. In colder climates, ground snow cover could be expected to alter the terrain reflectance significantly. The objective of this paper was to study the effect of ground snow cover on the diffuse fraction of the daily and the monthly average global radiation and to develop empirical relationships which would permit the calculation of the diffuse solar component.
