Title: Lithium conducting borate glasses: evidence for two broad distributions of cation-hosting environments
Abstract: The infrared reflectance spectra of lithium-borate glasses have been measured and analyzed over a broad and continuous spectral range, in an attempt to study the glass structure and its correlation with the conduction properties. The spectral data indicate a borate network build up of a variety of borate arrangements, while lithium cations were found to be present in two distinct distributions of anionic site environments. The results have been discussed in light of current structural models which propose the 'granularity' of the glass structure.
