Title: Hall density and de Haas-van Alphen effect near the van Hove singularity in the high-Tc superconductors
Abstract: The new superconducting oxides have been proposed to be nearly unstable with respect to a charge density wave, associated with the van Hove singularity of the CuO2-planes. Here, the effect of short range order on magnetotransport and magnetooscillatory phenomena is discussed. It is shown that the model naturally explains the discrepancy between band structure calculations and Hall density, as well as the temperature dependence of the Hall effect.
