Title: The Price of Dissent: Testimonies to Political Repression in America (review)
Abstract: In many ways a companion volume to the authors' earlier work, It Did Happen Here (1989), The Price of Dissent offers a unique perspective on three 20th Century political movements—labor, civil rights, and peace—through concise essays that situate each movement, followed by personal testimonies of carefully-chosen participants and skillfully-edited interviews that allow activists to speak for themselves. While the sections on the civil rights and anti-war movements are quite valuable, readers of this journal will be especially interested in the fascinating stories from workers in the section on "Subverting the Organization of Labor."
