The three surface treated fins have 2.5°, 75°, and 142° of static surface contact angles, respectively. Early stages of frosting, the frost surfaces showed differing frost formations and the onset of frosting varied according to surface treatment. Hydrophobic fin shows frost retardation, but the effect was insignificant. Moreover, the sizes of the frost crystals and water droplets were affected by the surface treatment. In the result of 120 min frosting experiments, hydrophilic fin had the lowest frost thickness and the highest frost density among the surface-treated fins. The effect of surface treatment on defrosting time was found to be insignificant.Read More
