Title: Kinetic regularities of decomposition of benzoyl peroxide in polystyrene medium
Abstract: A study was made of kinetic regularities of thermal and photochemical decomposition of benzoyl peroxide in amorphous PS. Kinetics of consumption of peroxide and formation of carbon dioxide in the polymer do not correspond to kinetics observed in liquid aromatic hydrocarbons—PS analogues, for which the effect of chain reaction of decomposition of benzoyl peroxide is lower than in PS. Differences established for solid and liquid solutions are explained by the structural microheterogeneity of the polymer system and local concentration of benzoyl peroxide in the polymer matrix.
