The problem is that, up to this point there has not been a commonly accepted model for software reuse. That is the reason why the Reuse Processes section was inserted into the ISO/IEC 12207 Standard. The Reuse Processes section provides an industry-wide definition of the best practices necessary to underwrite the overall concept of reusability. This article presents the recommendations for reuse management contained in that standard.
