Title: Forward Scattered Sound Field by Parallel Cylinders
Abstract: The sound fields scattered in the forward direction by a line row of parallel cylinders are measured in a water tank and calculated theoretically. The effects of diameter, spacing, and materials on the sound fields are investigated. The fields are calculated using a multiple scattering formula. Theoretical and experimental studies have confirmed that the sound shielding effects are large in cylinders with a pressure release wall with a small spacing. This result appears to be useful for the design of sound shielding walls in water.
