Title: An interactional approach to conflict resolution and its application to Israeli‐Palestinian relations1
Abstract: Click to increase image sizeClick to decrease image size Notes This article is based on a Special University Lecture presented at the University of London on 31 May 1978. Briefer versions of the paper were presented at the University of Haifa International Workshop on Conflict Resolution, 21 June 1978; and at the meetings of the International Society of Political Psychology, 3 September 1978. The article represents an extension of a theory of practice developed over a series of previous papers (Kelman, 1972; Kelman and Cohen, 1976; Kelman and Cohen, 1979). I am indebted to Stephen P. Cohen, who has played a central role in the development of these ideas. Our thinking has been greatly stimulated by Samir N. Anabtawi, Edward E. Azar, and A. Hussain Tuma, who have collaborated with Stephen Cohen and myself in the action research program described here. I also wish to thank the Lilly Endowment and its former president, Landrum Boiling, whose support made this work possible.
