Abstract: The generation of frequency-tunable (1.3-1.5 mu m), kilowatt, femto second pulses (<100 fs) through a soliton Raman process in single-mode optical fibers is described. Several schemes including single-pass and fiber resonators are presented, in addition to the relevant process of soliton pulse relaunch and synchronous amplification. Using a cascade Raman pump process, femtosecond soliton generation is possible to 1.6 mu m and above.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
