Title: Welcome message from the technical program co-chairs
Abstract: The IEEE International Conference on Techniques for Practical Robotics Applications is a new conference aimed at catalyzing the development of enabling technologies and encouraging their adoption by robot designers. With an emphasis on practical applications and industrial participation, TePRA provides researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs, and robotics professionals a well-balanced platform between an academic conference and an exhibition while maintaining a serious review process. The 1 <sup xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">st</sup> TePRA was held in 2008 and attracted more than 80 attendees from academia and industry. The conference, which was very well-received by the participants, featured a wide variety of technical papers and presentations, plenary speakers, and robot demonstrations.
