Title: Military Psychiatry and the Viet Nam Experience
Abstract: While the incidence of psychiatric casualties in Viet Nam has remained surprisingly low, the experience has allowed the correlates of psychiatric attrition in combat to be further defined, and for the first time the physiological responses of those who have successfully adapted to combat have also been studied. These represent important advances in our overall understanding of man under stress and have significant implications for civilian psychiatry.
