It was found to contain more HCB and DDT as compared to other regions. Striking is the increased concentration of DDT and of alpha and beta-isomeres of benzenehexachloride (BHC) in the milk of women originating from southern Europe. The concentration of pesticides under study were found to exceed the ADI-values of the WHO. Partly the safety margins of the border values were greatly narrowed down. The commission for controlling residues in food recommends breast feeding, because in their opinion the advantages outweigh the eventual risk.Read More
