The solvent was a 1:1 (v/v) mixture of acetonitrile–water. In both Systems, the forward rate constants (k r ) were unaffected by the addition of KCl; k f (Fe(CN) 6 4− /TCNQ) = (2.9 ± 0.2) × 10 6 M −1 s −1 , and k r (Fe(CN) 6 4− /QCl4) = (5.2 ± 0.4) × 10 4 M −1 s −1 On the other hand, the backward rate constants (k b ) increased with the increase of the KCl concentration. The results are interpreted in terms of ion-pairing equilibria of Fe(CN) 6 4− and Fe(CN) 6 3− .Read More
