Title: Heart failure and atrial fibrillation — Does practice meet the anticoagulation guidelines?
Abstract: Heart failure (HF) and atrial fibrillation (AF) are common and commonly overlapping conditions [ [1] Shamagian L.G. Roman A.V. Seara J.G. Sande J.L.M. Velosos P.R. Gonzales-Juanatey J.R. Atrial fibrillation in patients hospitalized for congestive heart failure: the same prognostic value independently of left ventricular systolic function?. Accordingly, HF is included both in the CHADS2 and CHA2DS2-VASc, used to estimate the need for anticoagulation in patients with AF.
