We propose that attention to both external and headquarters’ demands mediates the positive relationship between competitive pressures and practice implementation. While pressures from internal competitors increase subsidiaries’ attention to both external demands and headquarters’ demands, pressures from local competitors make subsidiaries focus attention on external demands reducing the effect of headquarters’ demands. Our analysis of three CSR practices’ implementation in 101 worldwide subsidiaries of an MNE support our expectations and provides fodder for rethinking subsidiary attention and competitive pressures’ influence on practice implementation.Read More
