Title: Médiation urbaine: vers une régulation sociale en circuit fermé
Abstract: Depuis les annees 1990, des milliers d'emplois de mediation urbaine ont ete crees dans l'objectif officiel d'aider la population et de lutter contre l'insecurite. Essentiellement occupes par des jeunes issus des quartiers defavorises, et le plus souvent envoyes au-devant des habitants des memes quartiers, ces emplois inaugurent une nouvelle forme de regulation des comportements. Au nom d'une meilleure efficacite, les origines sociales et « ethniques » sont prises en compte par ces dispositifs d'action publique. Entre benevolat et emploi d'insertion, les mediateurs urbains doivent ainsi circonscrire les desordres que generent les « jeunes de quartiers » tout en maintenant une partie de cette population a l'ecart du marche du travail.
