Title: Paleozoic Tectonics and Sedimentation in the Northern Half of the West Canadian Basin
Abstract: ABSTRACT With the help of fourteen maps, six geological cross sections and a short connecting text, an attempt was made to give a regional description of the subsurface geology and the geological history of a considerable portion of the West Canadian Basin. The sedimentation from Cambrian to the end of Paleozoic shows a regional pattern which is preformed by faults. The mild structures preformed by repeatedly renewed faults and the differential movements of the basement have governed the sedimentation during the different periods of the Paleozoic. The ancient structural trends, directly or indirectly, are important factors in determining the locations of structural and stratigraphic traps. A large portion of the area has been a basin surrounded by three prominent, block faulted, positive features.
