Title: Comprehensive Report on the Preparation of Validated Strategies for Army Battalions
Abstract: Abstract : Resourcing for training is based on the Battalion Level Training Model for a particular unit type. The BLTMs are event-based and describe the number of times particular training events must be completed each year to sustain readiness. The objective of this effort was to develop task-based Combined Arms Training Strategies to serve as the foundation for revised BLTMs. The first phase of the project was to develop the CATS for 11 different battalion/squadron types that accounted for 60% of the operating tempo. The second phase was to validate the CATS with 3 stakeholder groups: proponent schools, battalion commanders in test bed units, and battalion commanders in test bed units in Europe. The nature of this validation was to obtain concurrence that the CATS for each unit addressed the correct set of tasks, used an appropriate mix of field and TADSS events, accurately described the training audience and prerequisite gates, and described a training program that would sustain unit performance given current levels of turbulence.
