Abstract: The development objective of the Integrated Economic Development of Small Towns Project for China is to improve public infrastructure and services to contribute to sound development of the selected small towns in Guangdong, Hunan, and Gansu provinces. Some of the negative impacts and mitigation measures include: (1) setting simple sedimentation tanks to dispose of wash water of equipment, vehicles, and recycle and banning direct discharge of such wastewater; (2) high noise work area should be away from the sound environmentally sensitive areas (for example, residential buildings). Regular maintenance of equipment and rigorous practices should be carried out; (3) taking into account that the construction area of the project is located in urban area, in order to control dust pollution, vehicles leaving the sites must be rinsed in the civil phase; and (4) enhance management, optimize the traffic signal indication system, ensure the smooth flow of road traffic, and reduce exhaust emissions from vehicles idling driving.
