Title: Globalization, Convergence and Economic Growth: A Panel Data Analysis
Abstract: In this paper, we try to study globalisation between theories and facts by stressing the perverse effects of social, economic and political aspects. In other words we study the relation between globalisation and economic growth. Our empirical study is based on a panel model for an heterogeneous sample of 12 countries (8 OECD countries and 4 Mediterranean countries) over 1980-2000. By using beta absolute convergence tests, beta conditional convergence tests and sigma convergence tests, results suggest that the developing countries did not converge in term of GDP towards developed countries.
