Title: Heterosis for Yield and Yield Attributing Traits in Groundnut ( Arachis hypogaea L.)
Abstract: Three lines and seven testers were crossed in a line x tester fashion to estimate heterosis over mid parent, better parent for yield and its attributing characters in groundnut. The prevailence of heterosis over both mid parent and better parent in majority of crosses indicated the influence of both additive and non-additive gene action. The cross R-2001-2 x GPBD-5 exhibited higher and significant heterosis for most of the characters like number of flowers, number of mature pods, total number of pods, pod yield and kernel yield per plant followed by ICGV-00451 x SEL-1 for immature pods, shelling per cent and 100 kernel weight and ICGV-00350 x ICGV-00451 for sound mature kernels and oil content.
