Title: Review of Measures for Reducing Sedimentation of the Lower Yellow River
Abstract: The lower Yellow River is a heavily sediment-laden river with severe aggradation. At the present time, the river bed is commonly 3–5 meters higher than the adjoining ground, in some stretches even 10 meters or so higher. Hence the Yellow River has been famously called the “suspended river”. The continuously rising river bed poses a serious threat to flood prevention on the Lower Yellow River. Harnessing and development of the Yellow River as a whole requires that special attention be given to decreasing aggradation.
