Title: Gas Exploration Beneath the Bavarian Alps — A Technical Challenge
Abstract: The Bavarian Alps covcr an area on the northern edge of the Eastern Alps of about 230 km length and 40 km width. Figure 1 shows their location within the Alpine thrust belt of Central Europe. The northern boundary is marked by the overthrust of the Alpine nappes over the autochthonous Molasse which dips to the south below the nappes.
