Title: Retinoids as potent teratogens on larval development of Japanese flounder Paralichthys olivaceus
Abstract: In the previous studies, RA is shown to cause bone deformity and pigment abnormality in Japanese flounder. Here we summarize our recent works on the effects of RA on the larval development of Japanese flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus. In these works, we found that RA caused deformities in a stage-dependent manner during development of flounder larvae. Possible mechanisms are discussed and newly identified stages prone to deformity are described.
