Title: Transport Aircraft Aerodynamic Integration: Subsonic
Abstract: Abstract The aerodynamic integration of the propulsion system is a key activity to ensure that the engine/aircraft combination meets the objectives and commercial guarantees of performance, economics and noise reduction of a given aircraft program. The scope of application is for externally installed propulsion systems, typical for current subsonic transport aircraft. A reliable assessment of thrust and external drag of the engine and nacelle configuration is essential early in the development phase. Methodologies, computational tools, and model tests with powered exhaust flow are available for early evaluation and later reference to flight test.
