Title: Making practice-based learning work - Crossing the Rubicon
Abstract: The FDTL Phase 4 project, Making Practice Based Learning Work, aims to make practitioners more effective at supporting & supervising students in the workplace across a range of healthcare disciplines. So far the project has: Identified and documented good practice on preparing health care practitioners for their educational role. Developed learning materials for practitioners. Current project activity involves:Evaluate learning materials for practitioners. Disseminate learning materials across health and social care communities. The workshop includes an overview of the project’s current processes and outcomes before focussing on a participatory exploration of: Effective ways to disseminate information about developed learning materials. ? Strategies to embed developed learning materials into work based learning contexts. The workshop will utilise participants’ experiences in enhancing student learning within workbased environments to inform the discussion. Outcomes for the session are: a. Gain insight into potential ways of making work based supervisors more effective in their role. b. Share good practice in disseminating learning materials to work based educators. c. Develop greater awareness of factors influencing use of learning materials.
