Title: The structure of circumstellar discs of Be stars : millimeter observations
Abstract: Millimeter wave observations with the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope of six bright classical Be stars are presented. All six stars, selected on the basis of VLA results and IRAS observations, were detected at 1.1 mm. Three were also observed and detected at 0.8 mm. The observations are combined with existing data in the UV, optical, near-IR, IRAS and radio to construct energy distributions. All stars show a steeper mm-cm spectral index compared to the IRAS (12-60 μm) spectral index, indicating a turnover in the continuum energy distribution. The wavelength of the turnover varies strongly from star to star. The UV continua are fitted with Kurucz model atmospheres.
