Title: The role of community-based information centers in development: lessons for rural Zimbabwe.
Abstract: The article makes proposals on setting up of community-based information centers in Zimbabwe's rural areas. Information technology is seen as opening floodgates for national and international development. This research notes that community-based information centers should be spread across all Zimbabwean rural areas. These centers can act as significant trajectories in meeting social and economic targets for rural people by connecting them to developmental programmes and markets. This research conceptualizes democratisation of information along Illich's De-schooling education. Decetralizing information has a capacity to further enhance development in rural Zimbabwe.
