The increasing use of imaging studies has allowed for early detection of renal tumors and the advent of minimally invasive nephron-sparing approaches. The use of percutaneous RFA achieves acceptable oncologic and functional outcomes when compared to partial nephrectomy, the "gold standard" in managing small renal masses.
