The effect can under the experimental conditions used be abolished by the simultaneous addition of deoxyguanosine or of adenosine deaminase. Studies of the metabolism of deoxyadenosine 1- N -oxide in the Ehrlich ascites cells suggest that this compound is being reduced to deoxyadenosine, which is further converted partially to deoxyadenosine triphosphate and partially to deoxyinosine. The mechanism of inhibition of DNA synthesis by deoxyadenosine 1- N -oxide is discussed.Read More
