Title: Mangrove conservation and restoration for enhanced resilience
Abstract: This chapter considers one aspect of ecosystem management widely practised in
coastal Vietnam, namely, mangrove restoration, undertaken to enhance and
restore local environments as well as to benefit local populations. It is argued, in
the context of this volume, that mangrove restoration enhances the resilience
of ecosystems at the landscape scale through enhancing species and functional
diversity of suitable coastal regions. In addition, such practices enhance the
resilience and adaptive potential of the coastal population.
