Measured attenuation data are compared with theoretically derived attenuation data. Optical visibility and 140 GHz attenuation measurements were made simultaneously, providing comparisons between optical and millimetre wave system capabilities under degraded weather conditions. A brief review of the theoretical and experimental work of a number of authors on the computation and measurement of fog, rain and snow attenuation at 140 GHz is presented. An extensive reference and bibliography list is given which includes a number of articles from Soviet open literature.Read More
