Abstract: Abstract Neoliberalism can be approximately dated to the beginning of the 1980s. Although significant manifestations of the forthcoming transformation could already be detected during the 1970s, the end of 1979, when the Federal Reserve dramatically increased its interest rate, can be considered emblematic of the new directions. Neoliberalism is a new stage of capitalism, manifest in practices such as new corporate management and policies. It meant the definition of new institutional frameworks, notably the enhancement of globalization in a specific configuration. Globalization is, certainly, the outcome of a lasting historical process, but it reached new degrees during neoliberal decades as a result of the generalization of free trade and the opening of borders to the free movements of capital.
