This publication has been compiled from the information summary sheets for use when it is not convenient to obtain the information from the data bank. Information summaries have been included on 233 properties in Montana. Metallic deposits have been emphasized, but many industrial minerals deposits and coal mines have been included. In general, operating mines, mines with substantial past production, or mines that may be expected to enjoy significant production in the future have been chosen. Some mines, however, have been included for historical or geological interest, or because extensive information on them was publicly available. Location, status, production, type of mining, and geological information is included. The US Geological Survey has a Computerized Resources Information Bank on its computer at Reston, Virginia. Record numbers of these tracks are given and information may be retrieved from CRIB on them. Owners and operators of the deposits are also given.Read More
