Title: Testing for genetically modified organisms (GMOs) revealed the real source of rice imported to Norway
Abstract: Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are controversial. The presence of GMOs or derived products in food is regulated and foods, feeds and seeds are routinely tested for the presence of GMOs to reveal non-compliance with authorization and labeling regulations. The number and diversity of GMOs developed and commercialized is rapidly increasing. Foods are also often composed of ingredients from several species. These are just two of the factors responsible for the complexity of possible scenarios involving GMOs that analysts and other stakeholders in the food supply chain are facing, as the case studies in this chapter show.
