Title: El Sistema de Gestión de Calidad, una ventaja competitiva para el hospital Durango
Abstract: Introduccion. Los hospitales que cuentan con la Certificacion del Consejo de Salubridad General para aumentar su ventaja competitiva; en ocasiones, no cuentan con la certificacion de la gestion que realizan. El objetivo de este estudio es identificar que la certificacion de ISO 9001:2008 brinda elementos adicionales a los hospitales al permitir la mejora continua mediante la gestion enfocada a procesos de calidad internacional. Materiales y metodos. Se revisaron 12 documentos del Hospital de su Sistema de Gestion de Calidad (SGC) y bajo el enfoque de auditoria externa tuvimos acceso a entrevistas, observacion, verificacion y muestreo de 13 areas directamente relacionadas con la certificacion de la atencion en el servicio de urgencias. Resultado: Observamos un compromiso excelente de la Alta Direccion con la obtencion de las certificaciones tanto de la ISO 9001:2008 como del Consejo de Salubridad General y su alcance institucional, el conocimiento amplio del personal de los elementos requeridos del SGC y la apertura para atender los hallazgos y las quejas; por lo cual, percibimos un exito para el hospital Conclusiones: Consideramos igual que la empresa certificadora, que el SGC con base en la norma ISO 9001:2008 es la base del exito del Hospital para reconocer en su area critica, las observaciones y hallazgos para, a futuro, extender la certificacion al total de la institucion HSD
