Title: Investigation of electromagnetic wave propagation through one-dimensional plasma array
Abstract: The characteristics of electromagnetic wave propagation through a one-dimensional plasma array were investigated experimentally and by a numerical simulation. Electromagnetic wave was incident normally on the plasma array at the wave frequency from 2 to 18 GHz. Electromagnetic wave was reflected by the plasma array regardless of the polarization when the wave frequency was sufficiently lower than the plasma frequency. Increasing the wave frequency, the reflection of the electromagnetic wave was getting smaller and electromagnetic wave was absorbed only when the electric field was perpendicular to the plasma axis. These results were caused by different schemes of interaction with electric field and electrons in plasma.
