Abstract: We studied venture capital in Ghana using simple descriptive study by describing in details how venture capital is being operated. The study generally revealed that venture capital is very young in Ghana and heavily depends on the Ghana venture Capital trust fund with limited fundraising activities. The study also revealed that venture capital financing is skewed towards expansion and late stage investment. The study is theoretically based on the agency theory which describes the monopoly of choice of investment stage by the financier limiting the growth of entrepreneurship. There is limited flow of international and syndicated venture capital finance coupled with the absence of angel investors in the industry.
