Abstract: Abstract The General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS) is the agreement that regulates multilateral trade in services. It is included in the so‐called Marrakech Agreements as a result of the multilateral negotiations in the Uruguay Round (1986–1994), which ultimately led to the creation of the World Trade Organization (WTO). In force since January 1, 1995, the WTO took up the regulation of multilateral trade in place of the General Agreement on Tariff and Trade (GATT), which had been the framework of negotiations on the liberalization of the goods market among its member countries between 1947 and 1994.
