Title: Physical studies on fast Z-pinch implosion of the multi-wire liners in CAEP
Abstract: The fast Z-pinch was considered as an efficient and promising plasma radiation source for application to inertial confinement fusion (ICF), laboratory astrophysics, and radiation-material interaction. CAEP was engaged in the studies of fast Z-pinch implosion of multi-wire liners for a few years. Some separate-unit technologies on Z-pinch pulse power facility are under development. We have developed several diagnostic systems for seeing insight and obtaining X-ray radiation message of Z-pinch plasma, and developed one-dimensional (1D) and two-dimensional (2D) radiation magneto-hydrodynamics codes to simulate the Z-pinch processes. We basically mastered the techniques of single and composite loads manufacture. Some experiments with our loads and diagnostic systems were carried out on ≪Yang≫, ≪Qiangguang-I≫, S-300, and Angara-5-1, and Z-pinch physics, such as mechanism of energy transition and load optimization, were studied by means of our codes.
