Title: Rotation: CO White Dwarfs Near the Chandrasekhar Limiting Mass
Abstract: The contraction of the CO core at the onset of the AGB phase of intermediate mass stars may induce a significant increase in the angular momentum, even for initially low rotating stars. Following the method described by Kippenhahn et al (1970), we show that a large final CO core mass is the natural consequence of the inclusion of rotation in the computation of stellar models. Reasonable assumptions concerning the redistribution of the angular momentum lead to the production of a final core mass as large as 1.1–1.4 M ⊙ for an initial mass of 6.5 M ⊙.
