Title: Trawling lesions in some decapod crustaceans: considerations with regard to governmental inspections
Abstract: [A total of 4990 specimens belonging to nine species of decapod crustaceans were examined to study the incidence of trawling lesions; 23% of these specimens showed lesions on the body. Low correlations (R 2 = 0.58) were found between trawling parameters and crustacean lesions, with a major influence of time of fishing, the quantity of fish and crustaceans caught, and the depth of the haul. Based on these results, the method used for catching fish could be considered important for fish quality management. A total of 4990 specimens belonging to nine species of decapod crustaceans were examined to study the incidence of trawling lesions; 23% of these specimens showed lesions on the body.
