Abstract: Necrotizing fasciitis (NF) and gas gangrene (GG) are serious infections of the deep soft tissue. They both carry a high morbidity and mortality. Early diagnosis and treatment is important and is the key to improving outcome. Broadly speaking, NF is an infection primarily of the fascia and deep soft tissue of the skin, whereas GG is usually an infection of the skeletal muscle.
